It is the Rockridge TJ’s Line Watch Project’s policy to respect your privacy regarding any information we may collect while operating our website. Any personal data being shared by this site has been obtained lawfully, and exclusively to support our mission of providing real-time monitoring of the Trader Joe’s line for the benefit of the community.
We will not invade your physical privacy when you’re in public. In accordance with Section 647 of California’s Penal Code, this project will not knowingly seek to film or photograph anything that isn’t ‘Rated G’. We promise to never intentionally broadcast sexually explicit or violent images. If unlawful or inappropriate images of public individuals appear on this website, the person(s) being photographed will maintain sole liability for any unlawful acts captured.
We will never sell your information. This is strictly a private, volunteer-run service. Any fundraising campaigns are being directed to non-profit organizations addressing food insecurity in our local community, or for a small amount of basic organizational needs, such as hosting this website. No one here is getting paid for any services provided.
Our Facebook group is private, and may be subject to different privacy and community guidelines than this website.
We are in no way affiliated with Trader Joe’s. We don’t share information about you with Trader Joe’s, and they don’t share information about you with us. They are in no way affiliated or in endorsement of this effort.

Privacy of photographed individuals
Video footage and other images published on this site were obtained lawfully under California and U.S. laws governing the expectation of privacy in public places, and freedom of speech on behalf of the publisher.

This project is committed to protecting our community’s privacy beyond the minimum legal requirement. We take reasonable steps to anonymize images and prevent identifying personal information from being unnecessarily published. Our efforts to protect individual privacy beyond the legal requirement include:
Capturing film passively, and ensuring that the humans ‘behind the camera’ only actively view footage for the purpose of ensuring technical quality, or observing line-length status per the mission of this project
Purposefully streaming a lower-quality feed than equipment and internet speeds can accommodate
Composing images in a way that purposely obfuscates personally identifying visual details
Never ‘zooming in’ on an individual without their expressed consent
Deleting finished live recordings on a regular basis, and limiting public access to completed recordings as much as possible
Avoiding the attachment of time stamps when possible
Declining to capture or stream audio recordings, particularly from subjects being filmed in public
No images of private citizens will ever be used for commercial purposes, or for any purpose beyond our stated mission of providing real-time information on Rockridge Trader Joe’s wait times for our community.

This project is not commercially driven, so we will NEVER exploit data collected through this website for personal or commercial gain. Any personal data this site collects will be treated responsibly and in accordance with the law.
